Battlefield Hardline's New Trailer Highlights Its Fun-Looking Car Chase Mode

Following its reveal in August, EA today has released a new trailer showcasing Battlefield Hardline's Hotwire multiplayer mode along with some new details on how these matches work.

As you might be able to infer from the video above, Hotwire is a vehicle-centric mode. Basically, marked cars will be scattered around the map, and by getting in and driving around in one, you'll cause the enemy team's allotment of lives--their tickets, in Battlefield lingo--to decline. (For whatever reason, you'll do this whether you play as the cops or the criminals.)

Simple as that might sound on the surface, there are added wrinkles to this, such as scoring points by taking your vehicle off jumps, setting up roadblocks, sabotaging vehicles, and fighting for control of key resources (namely, RPGs).

Other modes we've heard about or gotten to play include Rescue (cops try to rescue a hostage), Blood Money (cops and robbers each try to recover cash), and Heist (robbers try to destroy objectives and then escape with the cash inside).

Hardline, which has faced some criticism for appearing to some to be an expansion pack (as well as its focus on militarized police), was originally scheduled for release in just over a month. Following a delay, it will instead be released in early 2015, a move made to ensure it's as innovative as possible.
